The Boat
Zut Alors is a 2023 Beneteau Oceanis 40.1, a modern cruising sailboat designed around an unusually spacious cockpit and interior without giving up the pleasure of sailing.
She is our boat for exploring the Chesapeake, learning her systems, improving the details, and spending time on the water. This site records some of that experience rather than trying to be a complete technical manual or vessel inventory.
The Oceanis 40.1
The Oceanis 40.1 was drawn by naval architect Marc Lombard, with the exterior and interior design by Nauta Design. The hull carries its beam well aft, creating the wide cockpit and substantial interior volume that are immediately noticeable aboard.
Beneteau offered the model with several keel, rig, and accommodation configurations. The figures below are therefore the published model specifications, not a claim that every option applies to Zut Alors.

Zut Alors herself
Zut Alors is equipped with a Yanmar diesel driving through a conventional shaft line and a folding propeller. Her systems include air conditioning and an onboard generator, along with the equipment expected aboard a modern cruising boat.
Her draft is approximately 5.8 feet, pending final verification. She carries one fuel tank and two fresh-water tanks. We will add capacities and other configuration details only as they are confirmed aboard.
Rather than reproduce a survey or factory option sheet here, this section will grow selectively as we document equipment that matters to the sailing and project stories elsewhere on the site.
Why this page exists
Specifications describe the platform. The more interesting story is how the boat behaves, how her systems work in practice, what we learn from maintaining her, and where she takes us. Those details belong in the Logbook and Projects sections as they accumulate.
